The Michael Thomas Foundation is inspired by the life and legacy of Michael “Micky” Thomas, whose journey exemplified resilience, kindness, and the rich complexity of the diaspora experience. As a first-generation Ethiopian American, Micky navigated the challenges of embracing dual identities—finding strength in his heritage while thriving in a multicultural world.
Michael Thomas, affectionately known as Micky, was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew him. Born on May 8, 1992, in Fairfax, VA, Micky brought an innate sense of tranquility and warmth to the world. His sudden passing on March 16, 2022, left a void that can never be filled.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
A Life Well Lived:
Throughout his life, Micky touched the hearts of countless individuals with his kindness, loyalty, and passion. From his childhood days spent building and fixing computers to his professional career in Information Technology, Micky’s journey was marked by resilience and determination. Micky’s love for soccer, technology, and travel filled his life with vibrant experiences and cherished memories. Whether cheering on his favorite football club, Liverpool, or exploring the streets of Paris with friends, Micky’s zest for life was infectious.

Micky’s legacy extends far beyond his accomplishments. He was a believer in God, a caring soul, and a fighter who overcame life’s challenges with grace and courage. His impact on the world will be forever remembered in the love he shared and the light he brought into the lives of those around him.
